Relating to a 24-hour cycle, particularly referring to biological or physical processes that occur over the course of a day and night. In meteorology, diel variations are observed in temperature, humidity, wind patterns, and atmospheric boundary layer height. For example, surface temperatures typically exhibit a pronounced diel cycle, peaking in the afternoon and reaching a minimum just after sunrise.
