Effluent seepage

The outflow of water from a body of water, such as a stream or lake, into the surrounding ground, contributing to groundwater recharge. This process occurs when the water table in the adjacent land is lower than the water level in the surface water body. It is a component of the hydrological cycle, influencing groundwater levels and streamflow.
