End of storm oscillation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005365

A distinct, final fluctuation in atmospheric pressure that occurs as a thunderstorm moves away from an observation point. This feature appears on a barograph trace as a sharp pressure drop followed by a rapid recovery, creating a V-shaped signature. The oscillation is associated with the wake low that forms to the rear of the storm's main precipitation area, marking the passage of the complete storm system.
