Atmospheric oscillation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003678

A recurring, quasi-periodic variation in atmospheric circulation patterns or meteorological variables over a large geographical region. These oscillations, such as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation or the North Atlantic Oscillation, can influence weather and climate conditions globally. They are often characterized by shifts in pressure centers and associated wind and temperature anomalies.
