Stable oscillation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009176
A type of periodic motion in a system where, if disturbed, the amplitude of the oscillations remains bounded or decreases over time, eventually returning to a steady state. In atmospheric dynamics, this can refer to wave phenomena that do not grow uncontrollably. An example is the stable oscillation of an air parcel within a stably stratified atmosphere.
