External forcings

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005514

Factors originating outside the Earth's climate system that can influence its energy balance and lead to climate change. Examples include variations in solar radiation, volcanic eruptions injecting aerosols into the stratosphere, and changes in the Earth's orbital parameters. These forcings can induce long-term shifts in global temperature and precipitation patterns.
