Helm wind

A strong, cold north-easterly wind that blows down the western slope of the Cross Fell range of the Pennines into the Eden Valley of Cumbria, England. It is a mountain-lee wind, accompanied by a cap of cloud called the helm lying along the fell tops and a parallel roll of cloud called the helm bar, several miles downwind over the valley, beneath which the strong wind ceases.
