Hydrographical network

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006327

The system of all connected streams, rivers, and other water bodies that drain a given land area, also known as a drainage network. The network's structure and density influence how quickly a watershed responds to a rainfall event, controlling the collection and transport of runoff to a common outlet. This spatial organization is a key input for hydrological models that simulate streamflow and predict flooding based on meteorological forecasts of precipitation.
