Ice field

A large area of interconnected glaciers and ice caps that covers a mountainous region, but is not extensive enough to be considered an ice sheet. Unlike an ice cap, an ice field's flow is significantly influenced by the underlying topography. The Patagonian Ice Fields in South America are prominent examples.
