Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006403
A dome-shaped mass of glacier ice that covers a highland area, obscuring the underlying topography. Its flow is radial, moving outwards from a central high point. An ice cap is distinguished from an ice sheet by its size; it covers a land area of less than 50,000 square kilometers, whereas an ice sheet exceeds this threshold.
