Inclination of the axis of an anticyclone

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006475

The tilt of the vertical axis of an anticyclonic circulation with increasing altitude. Unlike cyclones, the axis of an anticyclone often slopes equatorward and eastward with height in developing systems. This configuration is associated with cold air advection in the lower troposphere and warm air advection aloft, contributing to its maintenance or intensification.
