Warm high
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010082
An anticyclone characterized by warmer air throughout its vertical extent, particularly in the lower and middle troposphere. The high pressure at the surface is maintained by the hydrostatic effect of the warm air column. These systems are often associated with fair weather and can persist for extended periods, leading to heat waves in summer or mild conditions in winter.
