Warm low
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010083
A low-pressure system whose core is warmer than its surroundings, such as a tropical cyclone or a thermal low over heated land. By the thermal wind relation its cyclonic circulation is strongest near the surface and weakens with height, and it may give way to anticyclonic flow aloft, unlike a cold low, whose circulation grows stronger with height.
