International Geomagnetic Reference Field
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006606
A standard mathematical description of the Earth's main magnetic field, representing the large-scale field generated by the planet's core. The International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model is updated every five years to account for the slow, secular variation of the field over time. This model provides a baseline for navigation, geophysical surveys, and studies of the magnetosphere and space weather.
