Definitive Geomagnetic Reference Field

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004896

A standard mathematical model describing the Earth's main magnetic field with high accuracy for a past epoch, typically in five-year intervals. Produced by the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA), a Definitive Geomagnetic Reference Field (DGRF) is a retrospective finalization of an earlier International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model, incorporating more complete and processed magnetic data. DGRF models are considered the most accurate standard representation of the main field for their specified time.
