Defense Meteorological Satellite Program

A series of polar-orbiting satellites operated by the United States Department of Defense, designed to collect meteorological data for military operations. These satellites provide visible and infrared imagery, as well as other environmental data, globally. The program has been active since the 1960s, with several generations of satellites launched over the decades.
