Earth Resources Technology Satellite

The original name for the Landsat program, a series of Earth-observing satellites launched by NASA. These satellites collect multispectral images of the Earth's surface, providing data for monitoring land use, agriculture, forestry, and water resources. The first satellite in this series, ERTS-1, was launched in 1972.
