Applications Technology Satellite

A series of experimental geostationary satellites launched by NASA from 1966 to 1974, designed to test new technologies for meteorological and communication purposes. These satellites pioneered techniques for Earth imaging, data relay, and environmental monitoring from space. ATS-1 provided the first full-disk image of Earth from geostationary orbit.
