Operational Linescan System

A scanning radiometer carried aboard Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites, designed to collect visible and infrared imagery of Earth's surface and clouds. It provides data for weather forecasting, sea ice mapping, and monitoring of environmental phenomena. The system operates in two spectral bands, one visible and one infrared, with a swath width of approximately 3,000 kilometers.
