Geomagnetic coordinates

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005917

A coordinate system used to describe locations on Earth relative to the geomagnetic poles and equator, which are defined by the Earth's magnetic field. These coordinates are useful for studying phenomena influenced by the Earth's magnetic field, such as the aurora and the propagation of radio waves. They differ from geographic coordinates due to the tilt of the magnetic axis relative to the rotational axis.
