Spherical coordinates

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009129

A three-dimensional coordinate system that defines a point in space using its distance from the origin (radius), its polar angle (colatitude or elevation), and its azimuthal angle (longitude). This system is particularly useful in meteorology for describing atmospheric phenomena on a global scale. It aligns naturally with the Earth's spherical shape.
