Isokinetic
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006703
Relating to a condition in fluid sampling where the velocity of the fluid entering the collection nozzle is equal to the velocity of the surrounding free stream being sampled. This condition is necessary for collecting a representative sample of airborne particulates or aerosols, as it prevents the preferential collection or rejection of particles based on their inertia. Deviations from isokinetic sampling rates introduce biases in measured particle concentrations and size distributions.
