Depth-integration sediment sampling

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010473

A technique for collecting a water-sediment sample that represents the average sediment concentration across the entire depth of a river or stream. A specialized sampler is lowered to the streambed and raised back to the surface at a constant transit rate, allowing water to enter the nozzle continuously. This method provides a vertically averaged sample that is more representative of the total sediment load than a single point sample.
