Impactor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006463
A device used to collect airborne particulate matter by accelerating the air stream through a nozzle and directing it against an impaction surface. Particles with sufficient inertia deviate from the airflow and deposit on the surface, allowing for size-selective collection. Impactors are widely used in atmospheric research to characterize aerosol size distributions and chemical composition.
