A line on a map connecting points at which a specific, recurring biological event, or phenophase, occurs on the same date. These phenological events, such as the first flowering of a plant or the arrival of a migratory bird species, are closely tied to weather and climate variables. Isophanes are used in phenology to visualize and analyze the geographic progression of seasons and the response of ecosystems to climate change.
