Isotherm

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-001458

  1. A line on a weather map or chart connecting points that have the same temperature at a given time or for a given period. Isotherms are used to visualize temperature distribution and gradients across a geographic area. The spacing of isotherms indicates the magnitude of the temperature gradient, with closely packed lines representing a rapid change in temperature over a short distance.

  2. A line connecting points of equal temperature.
