Isotach chart
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010572
A meteorological chart that displays lines of equal wind speed, called isotachs, at a specific atmospheric level. These charts are used to visualize the distribution of wind velocity and identify features like jet streams, areas of strong wind shear, and regions of convergence or divergence. They are commonly produced for standard pressure levels, such as 850 hPa, 700 hPa, 500 hPa, and 200 hPa.
