Killing freeze

A meteorological event where temperatures drop sufficiently low and for a long enough duration to kill most annual plants and tender vegetation. This typically occurs when temperatures fall to 28°F (-2°C) or lower for several hours. It marks the end of the growing season in many temperate regions.
