Kilocycle
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006776
An obsolete unit of frequency equal to one thousand cycles per second. It is numerically equivalent to the kilohertz (kHz), the modern SI unit that officially replaced it in the mid-20th century. In early atmospheric science, this unit was used to specify the operating frequencies of radio equipment, such as that used for radiosonde telemetry, before the global adoption of the hertz.
