Leaf wetness

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006902

The presence and duration of free water on the surfaces of plant leaves, resulting from precipitation, dew, or fog. It is a key parameter in agricultural meteorology because prolonged periods of wetness create favorable conditions for the development and spread of fungal and bacterial plant diseases. Leaf wetness duration is measured in hours using specialized sensors that mimic the thermal and radiative properties of a real leaf.
