Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003809

A cloud feature observed in satellite imagery, characterized by a leaf-shaped pattern of mid- and high-level clouds. This structure forms in regions of strong baroclinicity and upper-level divergence, often preceding the development of extratropical cyclones. It serves as an indicator of cyclogenesis in its early stages.
