Mills period

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007306

A historical concept in long-range weather forecasting, popular in the late 19th century, which proposed that weather patterns repeat in a predictable 35-day cycle. This theory was based on observations of supposed recurring atmospheric phenomena, such as storms and temperature changes, at regular intervals. The Mills period is not recognized by modern atmospheric science and lacks a physical basis for its claims of weather predictability.
