Leaf wetness duration
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006903
The length of time that a plant's leaves remain wet from dew, rain, or irrigation. This parameter is a key factor in agricultural meteorology for predicting the outbreak and spread of fungal and bacterial plant diseases, as many pathogens require a period of surface moisture to infect a host. Leaf wetness duration is measured in hours using specialized sensors that mimic the thermal and radiative properties of a real leaf.
