The length of time over which a meteorological event or phenomenon persists, such as the duration of rainfall, a thunderstorm, or a period of sunshine. It is a fundamental characteristic used to describe and quantify atmospheric processes and their impacts. Duration is often measured in units of seconds, minutes, hours, or days.
