Gust duration

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006127

The total time span during which wind speed exceeds a predefined threshold above the mean wind speed. This measurement characterizes the temporal extent of a wind gust event, from its onset to its return to ambient conditions. Gust durations can range from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the atmospheric conditions and the scale of the turbulent eddy.
