Gust decay time
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006126
The interval required for a wind gust's speed to decrease from its peak value back to the mean wind speed or to a specified lower threshold. This period reflects the dissipation rate of the turbulent kinetic energy associated with the gust. It is a measure of how quickly the atmosphere returns to a more stable state after a sudden increase in wind velocity.
