Effective gust velocity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005284
The maximum instantaneous wind speed experienced during a gust, adjusted to represent its impact on structures or objects. This value considers both the peak speed and the duration of the gust, as well as the dynamic response characteristics of the affected object. It is a more practical measure for engineering design than a simple peak gust speed.
