Gust-gradient distance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006132

The horizontal distance over which a gust's speed changes from its mean value to its peak value. This metric quantifies the spatial scale of wind speed variations within a turbulent flow. It is a factor in assessing the impact of wind shear on structures and aircraft, particularly during landing or takeoff operations.
