Maritime aerosol
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007118
Tiny solid or liquid particles suspended in the atmosphere over oceans, primarily composed of sea salt crystals generated by bursting bubbles at the ocean surface. These aerosols act as cloud condensation nuclei and ice nuclei, influencing cloud formation and radiative properties in marine environments. Their concentration varies with wind speed and sea state.
