Mei-yu front

A quasi-stationary frontal system that develops over eastern Asia during late spring and early summer, bringing prolonged periods of heavy rainfall. This front forms due to the interaction of warm, moist air from the South China Sea and cooler, drier air from continental Asia. It is responsible for the annual monsoon rains in regions like China, Taiwan, and Japan.
