Midget tropical cyclone

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007293

An unusually small but fully developed tropical cyclone, also known as a micro-cyclone. Its defining characteristic is a very small radius of gale-force winds, which extends less than 60 nautical miles from the center of circulation. Despite their compact size, these systems can possess intense winds near the core and are capable of rapid intensification, a behavior less common in larger storms.
