Mini-supercell
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007313
A small, rotating thunderstorm that exhibits the key characteristics of a supercell, including a persistent mesocyclone, but on a much smaller physical scale. These storms form in environments with lower convective available potential energy (CAPE) and weaker vertical wind shear than their classic counterparts. Despite their size, they are capable of producing severe weather, including tornadoes and large hail.
