Mobile ship

A seagoing vessel equipped with meteorological instruments that transmits weather observations while underway. These ships contribute to the Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) program, providing data from ocean areas where fixed buoys or weather stations are sparse. Observations include air pressure, temperature, wind speed and direction, sea state, and visibility, which are coded into SYNOP format for global distribution.
