Overseeding
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007762
The introduction of an excessive number of ice nuclei into a supercooled cloud during a weather modification operation. This action creates a high concentration of tiny ice crystals that compete for the available water vapor, preventing any from growing large enough to fall as precipitation. Overseeding is sometimes used intentionally to suppress the formation of large hail by creating many small, harmless ice particles instead.
