Primary front

A major frontal boundary that separates two large, distinct air masses with significantly different temperature and moisture characteristics. These fronts are typically associated with primary cyclones and are responsible for widespread weather changes. Examples include the main cold fronts and warm fronts depicted on synoptic weather charts.
