Secondary front
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008741
A frontal boundary that develops within a larger air mass or behind a primary frontal system, marking a renewed or distinct change in temperature and moisture. These fronts can form due to differential heating, terrain effects, or the advection of air masses with slightly different characteristics. Their passage can bring additional weather changes, such as renewed precipitation or temperature drops, following the initial frontal passage.
