Secondary cold front
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008737
A cold front that forms behind a primary cold front, bringing a renewed surge of colder air and often additional precipitation. This feature develops as a result of further advection of cold air or the intensification of a pre-existing temperature gradient. Its passage can lead to a second drop in temperature and a continuation of unsettled weather conditions.
