Rapid interval imaging
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008406
The acquisition of a sequence of images at very short time intervals, often on the order of seconds or less, to capture fast-evolving atmospheric phenomena. This technique is used with satellite or ground-based cameras to observe processes like lightning, severe storm development, or volcanic ash plumes. Geostationary satellites can provide rapid interval imagery over large regions.
