Rapid interval scan
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008407
A mode of operation for meteorological satellites or radar systems where data is collected over a specific area at a much higher frequency than standard scanning modes. This allows for near real-time monitoring of rapidly changing weather events, such as severe thunderstorms or tropical cyclones. The GOES-R series satellites offer rapid interval scan capabilities for mesoscale phenomena.
