Relative sunspot number

A measure of solar activity, calculated by summing the number of individual sunspots and ten times the number of sunspot groups observed on the Sun's surface. This index provides a quantitative assessment of the prevalence of sunspots, which are regions of intense magnetic activity. It has been recorded daily since 1818 and is often referred to as the Wolf number.
